a new sound and video piece made using slowed down cassette tape samples from a whitney houston album can be seen and heard below :

a new piece of music with film has been created using sound recordings taken from an MRI scanner. additional sounds were added to the piece using the bailey guitars custom ‘one is more not four’ one string bass and skinnerbox sbx2049 drum sequencer. the film is also on the video page

here are edited highlights of an improvised dj mix session recorded over 2 days during february during 2012. using a sanyo G2615N music player, two sony portable cassette players, android phone running looper, drawmusic and dialpad android apps, delay and distortion pedals, behringer mixer, sharp minidisc recorder, lager

using a variety of 7 inch singles and cassettes from africa, sri lanka, russia, morocco and elkie brooks. recorded onto minidisc and then edited in reaper

the slate pipe banjo draggers are collaborating with mowgli on an audio visual performance of the prime bolus music set that is occasionally performed live.  we have been chosen to perform at the 2012 live performers meeting in rome.  the audio and video of the performance is semi improvised and a short clip of mowgli’s current visuals, which use MRI scanner images, can be seen below :

the first piece of work i have made this year is a reworking of queen’s 1978 masterpiece ‘fat bottomed girls‘. a song i have owned on 7″ vinyl and cassette since around that time.

the piece is retitled ‘daft bottomed girls’ and all sounds have been sourced from the original single, mixed in ableton live and mastered in reaper using t racks mastering suite

hippo birdwings won the audience award for best short film at this year’s london underground film festival. many thanks to whoever voted. expect more short films of a similar nature in the coming months

hippo birdwings has been picked as part of the official selection of film for this year’s london underground film festival.  it is being shown during the saccadic pursuit part of the evening on thursday 1st december at the horse hospital in london. come down and vote for it if you have the evening spare

i recently took a trip to genoa in order to source some sounds from the area and to make some field recordings using different microphones and equipment. a sound piece that has resulted from this trip can be listened to on soundcloud here

i have also been in the process of making some new music with a view to producing a vinyl release. i have made some video work to accompany two of these pieces – lion cheater and moroccan slipback.  they can also be seen on the video page
